The Kitchen Garden

Gary and I planted a small kitchen garden back in November.  I grew up with a garden, my Daddy was a farmer.  I miss all of the sweet veggies we used to pick out of that garden.  Gary and I planted lettuce, we have a nice little crop of frills and butter crunch.  We also planted mesclun mix but, the bugs ate it up, they haven't touched the lettuces so, we feel that this is okay.  I noticed what is in the mesclun mix and now, I am definitely not touching it.  I hate mustard greens and collards.  So, I won't be eating any of those out of that patch of ground.

Gary planted radishes and sweet peas.  I love fresh sweet peas fresh off of the vine.  I don't know if we will be cooking any.  We have to pull out two more rose bushes out of that section of ground and we will have more space for the seeds I ordered today.  :)  I will keep ya'll informed of what we are working with over here, when we plant again.  I had a coupon with Gurney's so, I used that and I was able to get my veggie seeds.

Two Pairs of Socks

I am working on knitting two pairs of socks right now.  I know, if you don't knit, you are thinking I am off of my rocker.  Nope, this is what we knitters do.  We knit many projects at the same time.  Why do you think we need all of those needles?  I have several pairs of one size because as a knitter, I need them and I never now who will be hiring me to knit them socks.  I do professional knit on occasion.

The first pair of socks belongs to my Darling Hubby.  The second pair of socks belongs to my great nephew, Eli.  This will be his first ever pair of socks that are made by me.  I am so excited.  I hope he will have nice and toasty feet this winter.  :)  With that being mentioned, his sister and his brother will also be getting hand knit socks.  I also will be knitting his Dad a pair of socks.  That will knock out that family since his Mom was given a pair of socks a couple of years ago.  I might have to e-mail her and ask if she needs a new pair.

After I finish all the socks, I have mittens to finish.  I am still trying to work on my test knit of flowers everywhere.  I want to get them done.  I also have to write the pattern and update the chart to the mittens.

I am trying to decide if I should knit my older brother a pair of mittens for his birthday.  I am thinking I will have to get moving on those should he want a pair.  If he doesn't, I might do a pair of mitts, they go over well with men.  I know Gary has the pair I knit him and he likes them.  They leave the fingers open to work.

Pfft!

Today I fell asleep on the couch after Gary and I had lunch out together with a movie.  We had a fun date.  Gary finished the puzzle whilst I slept.  I missed taking some of my meds on time so, I am having to take them when I can.

I did manage to knit a couple of rows on the wee bitty sockies.  I have also started a second blog for those of you who are interested.  The old blog is gone...there comes a time when it is time to move on and throw away old baggage.

Maybe with the new year, I will accomplish more of the goals I have set for myself and the knee will finally heal and the foot will heal as well.  I am fighting the crud in the foot with the usual cocktail along with Manuka honey.  It isn't cheap but, it works.
